I wrote this song during the long winter lockdown of 2021, when we all longed for signs of the summer and an end to the perpetual ‘frozen in time’ feeling that had hung around for so long. I was inspired by Ruth Tongue’s poem ‘The Broom Squire’s Bird Song’ to think about garden birds and their folklores.

‘Gracious Wings’ is a little morris tune that I wrote, inspired by a virtual morris solo jig competition on Zoom, one Saturday afternoon in lockdown.
